In general, Plastic Edge Trims are known simply as Edge TrimsRubber Edge Trims, used relatively less compared to Plastic Edge Trims, are generally referred to by their full name.

Perhaps the most popular among Trimlok’s products, Plastic Edge Trims are made up of two parts. First, there is an inner metal core wrapped with second, a plastic – PVC or Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) – exterior.

Rubber Edge Trims do not have an inner metal core and are made of either Neoprene or EDPM. Despite this, they are produced to the right hardness to provide a firm grip onto the plates that they are assigned to.

Length

Plastic Edge Trims are usually sold in two lengths: 15 metres or 75 metres, with limited models available in 1 metre. Rubber Edge Trims are sold in pieces each 1 metre long or longer lengths in multiples of 1 metre.

Surface Texture

Edge Trims are produced with a textured or rough surface. This is to facilitate grip and at the same time, offer a rugged and sophisticated appearance. Rubber Edge Trims are produced only with a smooth exterior that offers enough grip while offering a pleasant appearance.

Plate Thickness Allowance

There are differences between the plate thickness that each type of trim can grip.

Having a metal core enables Edge Trims to be used across a range of plate thickness. Depending on the model you choose, Edge Trims are best recommended for 0.8mm plates can be used for other thickness ranging from 0.4mm to 1.2mm.

For comparison, the limitations for Rubber Edge Trims are smaller. For example, a Rubber Edge Trim with part number TRE08, officially recommended only for 0.8mm plates, may be used on plates ranging from 0.5mm to 1mm.
